The Incubator

Storytelling & Content Infrastructure

Incubating and building the infrastructure required for a modern democracy and long-term narrative success.

01

The challenge

We introduce storytelling techniques and add production capacity to advance the field.

One of our great challenges is that we cannot yet create the volume of compelling, attention-grabbing and evocative content our issues and values need: content that centers, advances, introduces, or reinforces them.

Yet we have organizations, volunteer and mailing lists, Instagram followings, audiences, and public profiles lying dormant or underutilized. To keep our issues and values alive in the public consciousness, we need to align our engagement practices with consumer behavior and meet people where they are.

Too many of the most knowledgeable or best-positioned voices are kept out of the commons because they lack the resources and infrastructure to participate.

The Incubator

That’s the problem we solve.

03

Who we incubate

We add storytelling capacity by incubating nonprofits, content creators, and academic talent.

AMERICAN STORY Studio helps aligned creatives increase their presence in the entertainment landscape through technical expertise and resourcing.

01

Content creators

We can migrate a creator from short form to long form.

02

Nonprofits

We can teach a nonprofit how to launch a dating show that unpacks consent.

03

Academic talent

We can get a telegenic but otherwise too busy expert to film two hours of compelling video that gets packaged into a weekly series.

04

The program

Teaching narrative science and storytelling principles.

This program is about teaching and incubating narrative science and storytelling principles so that organizations and individuals can sustain an ongoing public engagement through media.

Vendor-managed production, even simple production, is outdated and expensive. Staying relevant requires consistent presence.

We need to upskill our advocacy base to participate in the attention economy.
